Eastern Crowned Warbler センダイムシクイ
The Eastern Crowned Warbler is a small, active summer visitor to Japan, often found in broadleaf forests, mixed woodlands, mountain forests, wooded valleys, and quiet forest edges. It has olive-green upperparts, pale underparts, a clear pale eyebrow, and a distinctive pale crown stripe that helps separate it from similar forest warblers.
This warbler moves quickly through leaves and branches while searching for insects, larvae, spiders, and other small invertebrates. During the breeding season, its clear repeated song is often heard from shaded forest canopies, making it a familiar voice of Japan’s summer woodlands.
