Eurasian Nuthatch ゴジュウカラ

The Eurasian Nuthatch is a small, active woodland bird often seen in forests, parks, mountain woods, and mature tree areas in Japan. It has blue-gray upperparts, pale underparts, a strong pointed bill, and a bold dark eye stripe that gives it a sharp and lively appearance.

This bird is famous for climbing tree trunks and branches both upward and downward, often moving headfirst down the bark while searching for insects, larvae, seeds, and nuts. It may store food in bark crevices and is often heard giving clear, ringing calls from woodland trees.
