Common Moorhen バン

The Common Moorhen is a dark waterbird often seen around ponds, marshes, lakes, rivers, rice fields, and reed beds in Japan. It has a blackish body, brownish wings, a red forehead shield, and a red bill with a yellow tip. Its white undertail markings are often visible as it walks or swims.

This bird moves carefully through floating plants and waterside vegetation, feeding on aquatic plants, seeds, insects, snails, and other small animals. It swims with a nodding motion and often flicks its tail while walking along the water’s edge.
